  Dear Russell,

I’m Karen’s cousin, Janet (Wever) Hasty’s (from West Virginia ) daughter, and Karen’s Aunt Sue’s granddaughter.

We just heard of Karen’s passing.
I’m so sorry for your loss.
I lost my father to cancer almost 10 years ago now. I pray for you that you find comfort and peace during this time.
I pray that God brings you strength, and brings to your mind happy memories of your times with Karen.

I have fond memories of meeting you and Karen in a small German town in Georgia , back in 1996 (I think). You two had ridden down on your motorcycle to meet me and my husband, Doug.
I’ll have to find some photos to send you. We were there with our friend Andy from Atlanta .

Please know that you are on our minds during this time, and that you have family here in Owasso , Oklahoma , if you’d like to ride down here sometime. Our address: Doug and Bethany Wood, 7701 N 132 nd E Ave., Owasso , OK 74055

Subject: Karen Loetzer was a special friend

Russell and family,

My wife, Trish, and I send you all our condolences. Karen was a special lady and we will never forget her.

I had the pleasure to hire and work with Karen at The Franklin Press approximately 18 years ago. From the very first time I met Karen I felt like I had known her all my life. She had a sweet smile and enjoyed working with her.

On Monday, the day after Father's Day a few weeks ago, I had planned to meet Kenneth Hudgins (our former publisher of The Franklin Press) for a round of golf with my son Hayes. After the golf we stopped by to see Karen for a few minutes. Having not seen her since the spring of 1997, we had a special visit of about an hour that I will never forget. She was the same Karen I had met way back in 1992. When Kenneth, Hayes and I were leaving, we prayed together, hugged and said our goodbyes. But looking forward to a brighter day, I can't wait to see Karen again and to hear her little laugh and see her wonderful smile.

Her death at such a young age is shocking to me and I will miss her greatly.

With all my respect and love,

Tom Brown

I will always remember mine and Karen's days, together, in the "media".
She was always very kind. I am so glad the last time we had together
was holding hands as we walked the Survivor's Lap at Relay for Life this
year. She will always be an encouragement to those who continue to
battle cancer.

Russell:

I am so sorry to hear of Karen's passing. You both were good friends not only to me but to the Streets of Franklin and the Chamber. We had lots of fun working on the parades and other activities around town. I remember how excited Karen was when you all bought the PT Cruiser. I have thought of you both since moving from Franklin and cherish those memories. Kathie & I wish you the best at this time and our thoughts are with you and your family.
