Patty & Dori

I am so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you during this time of deepest sorrow. My prayers are with your entire family. Nick was a wonderful husband and father. You all were a very unique family and I love you guys. Patty, you are a very special lady. Dori, you are an extra-special young lady. You all will always remain in my heart. Your memories will sustain you and pull you through this. Remember the good times and the bad, for that is when you were your strongest as a family. That is what he would want you to do.
He will be sorely missed by all, but his memory will live on. May God Bless you all and carry you through. "...for when you see one set of footprints ... it was then I carried you."

My prayers are with you, Reba Talley

Dear Patty and Dori,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I know how hard it is when you lose someone you love and I know it is hard to make any sense of it at all but I hope that someday you will be able to find strength in the knowledge that Nick is in a better place today and although it hurts take solace in knowing you will be united with him again someday. I have wonderful memories of my time spent working at the Smokehouse when the three of you would come in for dinner, you all were such a fun and happy family. I will continue to pray for you as you grieve for your husband, best friend and dad. Take care of yourselves.

Like so many people he touched, I have so many memories of Nick.
I cannot imagine Highlands without him.
Having lunch at the Calico Cottage with my parents and sisters. My Bridesmaids Luncheon there in 1980, when Great Aunt Lenore had just one to many Mimosa’s. Kelly's first job, 1996. The first time I met Jim's Mom, and having to stop her from video taping the kitchen because her grandson Joe worked there - 1998?. Nick when my sisters and I gathered once again, this time in 2002, without Mom or Dad. To toast their lives, and our sisterhood. He is a vital part of so many of my own family memories. And along the way, so many wonderful times with friends and family, celebrating milestones, or maybe just enjoying great food and sharing a bit of what we hold most dear.

Nick in the community.
My boss when he was a Chamber of Commerce Director. Taste of Highlands , Volunteer Luncheons., Relay for Life The time keeper at Highlands School basketball games.
My boss again when I briefly tried to be a hostess.

But my favorite Nick, the one I will hold in my heart always, is Nick the Little League Coach. Spring of 1994. Dorie was in the fourth grade, and giving it hell from the mound every chance she got. And ever present was Nick. Giving it hell as well.

Dorie, your Dad adored you. That is a very rare and precious gem. May you treasure it forever.
