For Gene's Family:

Was so sorry to hear of your loss. Gene and I have been friends besides being cousins all our lives. I remember when I left Boot Camp in San Diego in 1954 and Gene tried to put eggs on my mess tray. I refused them and he asked if I was too good to eat his eggs. My head was down and I didn't see him till he spoke to me. We talked for a while and I had to go catch a train. I later saw him in 1955 as we were catching a bus to the Colliseum in Los Angeles to see a football game. Off and on over the years, we have always talked to each other when we were in the same area. He was a good man. May he rest in peace.
