Maryâ€s
Family
I was so saddened to hear of Maryâ€s passing.
She had been on my mind all day and I was going to call her on
the day she died, but was waiting till afternoon because of the
time difference.
Mary was such a dear friend and mentor to me. I met her online
in my Williams genealogy research.
She shared her years of research with me. Sent me notebooks full
of documents and family history.
I felt so close to her as my mother sank deeper into her dementia
during her later years.
When I shared the secret that was kept from me until I was 60
years old, regarding my biological father,Mary was right there
accepting me as a Williams. That meant so much to me.
I loved hearing her voice and talking to her. She was a treasure.
She loved her family and will be missed
greatly.
Blessings and prayers to her family,
Tina Williams Swyers

Please forward
my condolences to Mary's family. Mary was distant cousin. My grandmother
Baxter who is still living at 97 is a Roach and her paternal grandmother
was a Williams. My mother (Gail Baxter) and I started genealogy
correspondence with Mary back in the 1980s. She was wonderful
about sharing her information and her thoughts. In some of her
letters she would tell us about her family and her life and she
came across as a person anyone would wish to count not only as
a friend but a family member. I regret many times not having the
opportunity to meet her, particularly a few years ago at the Bush
River reunion in South Carolina. Having lost my maternal grandmother
in June, I truly feel for your loss and hope the loving memories
you have of Mary sustain you through the days to come.
Take care,
Carmen Baxter

My husband
and I were fortunate to see my cousin Mary just two weeks ago,
and spend an afternoon at her home talking about family history.
I met Mary
about four and a half years ago, on the Internet, through our
common (but uncommon!) ancestors who were born in the mid 18th
century. Our shared research interests brought us close very quickly,
as part of a small online research group investigating the roots
of our Williams family.
We all derived
much inspiration from Mary for her insights, prodigious memory,
and boundless enthusiasm. During that recent visit she was fully
engaged and full of thoughts for future research. We will miss
the amazing Mary enormously, but I expect she is up there asking
our Cassandra to explain the many mysteries we have been trying
to solve. Our thoughts are with Howard and the rest of the closer
family -- please know that all of us in Mary's large online family
are sharing in your loss.
love from

Howard,
I was a member
of your Mother's Williams' Research Group. I loved her dearly
and she will be so missed; however, I feel she is in a better
place and free of all pain.
You did a wonderful job taking care of her. God bless you.
