John William Ervin

Franklin, NC - John William Ervin, age 85, of Shadow Lane, Franklin, NC passed away Saturday, May 15, 2010 at his residence. He was born in Anderson County, SC the son of William and Martha Mashburn Ervin. He was a US Army WWII Veteran. He was a superintendent for a rope mill and worked for Winn Dixie for several years. He was a volunteer fireman for thirty years. He was a member of Sugarfork Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Velma Crisp Ervin; three daughters, Renee Ervin Bell and Leann Menteer both of Franklin, NC and Judy Ervin of Anderson, SC; two grandchildren, LaShonda Kilby of Lafayette, GA and Megan Schick and Brian of Raleigh, NC; three great-grandchildren, Lakota Bell, Brett Bell and Erik Schick.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 18 at 2:00Pm at Sugarfork Baptist Church with Rev. Vic Greene, Rev. Daniel Tranthum and Rev. Alton Dendy officiating. Burial will be held in the Sugarfork Baptist Church Cemetery. Eddie Fox, Gary Taylor, Michael Wiggins, Harold Crisp, Jimmy Teem, and Danny Hall will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Monday, May 17 from 6:00-8:00PM at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home.

Helen Gertrude Estell

Franklin, NC - Helen Gertrude Estell, age 94, of Riverbend Road, Franklin, NC passed away Saturday, December 19, 2009 at a local hospital. She was born in Crawford Co., PA the daughter of the late Lyle and Clara Whippo Field. She was married to the late George Estell. She was a homemaker and was of the Methodist faith.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Howard and her husband, Charles of Ellis Grove, IL; her sons, Robert George Estell of Franklin, NC and Daniel Lyle Estell and his wife, Judi of Ocean Isle Beach, NC. She was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas and William Estell .

Funeral services will be held, Thursday, December 24 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home with Rev. John Fowler officiating. Burial will be held at Palms Woodlawn in Noranja, FL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.

Connie Mae Evans

Franklin, NC - Connie Mae Evans, born December 30, 1949, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, February 17, 2010. She died at Angel Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late George W. Evans and Lucy Campbell Evans. She is survived by her mother and one sister Emma Lovett and husband Walt, and one brother Eddie Evans and wife Teri. Nieces are Kim Hedden and husband Barry, Valerie Norton and husband Steve, Christy Barnett and husband Jimmy, and is also survived by one nephew, Dustin Evans. Three great-nieces, Olivia Hedden, Lauren Norton, and Callie Barnett. One great-nephew, Blake Hedden also survives. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Duel Carpenter, and a niece, Morgan Hedden.

When Connie was school age, she attended a special class in Franklin taught by Mrs. Evelyn Pangle and other teachers. Connie attended Murdock School in Butner, NC for four years. While at Murdock she was taught and trained in everyday life skills. It was a long way to Butner back then and a great sacrifice for her mom and dad to leave her in the care of strangers but they trusted the Lord to take care of her.

From 1960 to 1969 she attended Western Carolina Center in Morganton, NC., where they continued to give her love, training and special care. Macon Citizens for the Handicapped was a great part of her life for many years. She enjoyed all the activities there as she made bells and rabbit foot key chains. While attending MCH, Connie enjoyed bowling and brought home many trophies.

Connie was a member of Iotla Baptist Church and was in the Dorcas Sunday School Class and attended the J.O.Y. Club. Connie loved Pickin on The Square and gospel music.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 19th at 2:00pm at Iotla Baptist Church, with Rev. Steve Reeves, Rev. Stacy Woods, Rev. Vic Greene and Rev. Brandon Breedlove officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00pm, Friday at the Church. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Walt Lovett, Dusty Evans, Jimmy Barnett, Steve Norton, Barry Hedden, and Ronnie Campbell, Blake Hedden as an honorary pallbearer, and her caregivers with PDQ Nursing, Tonja Harden, Lisa Buchanan, andTammy Charles,and Heaven Scent and Pam Raby with Hospice.

Hugh Kenneth Everett

Franklin, NC - Hugh Kenneth Everett, age 83, of the Oak Grove Community, died Sunday, October 5, 2008 at his residence. He was a native of Ocala, FL the son of the late Joseph Everett. He was a retired life guard for the city of Miami, FL. He was an avid golfer and was a five time champion of the Franklin and Holly Springs Golf Courses.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jacqueline Logan Dempsey Everett; one daughter, Jacqueline Andrea Bridges of Punta Gorde, FL; two sons, Andrew Jacques Mallory of Franklin, NC and Duane Mallory of Jacksonville, FL; one daughter-in-law, Ginger Mallory of Otto, NC; two brothers, Marvin Everett of Atlanta, GA and Joseph Everett of Clearwater, FL. Fifteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survive. He was preceded in death by a son, Barry Mallory and a grandchild.

Funeral services will be Wed. October 8, 2008 at 11:00 AM, in the Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Judson Hall officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Jacqueline Logan Everett

Franklin, NC - Jacqueline Logan Everett, age 87, of Queen Branch Road, Franklin, NC, passed away March 26, 2010., in Punta Gorda, Florida. She was a native of Palm Beach County, Florida, the daughter of the late William A. and Ella Dempsey. She was married to the late Hugh K. Everett, who passed away in 2008. She was a homemaker and a Real Estate Agent. She had lived for the last eighteen months in Florida with her grandchildren, Barry, Terri and Cory. She loved playing the guitar, banjo and dancing. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Andrea Bridges of Punta Gorda, FL; a son, Duane L. Mallory of Hagler Beach, FL; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survive. She was preceded in death by two sons, A. J. Mallory and Barry Mallory.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at 2:00pm at Oak Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Judson Hall officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00pm, one hour prior to the service at the Church.
