Wayne was a very active individual, hard working and loved the time he spent on his tractors in the hay field. He was very active in matters concerning his church. Generous to a fault where his children and grandchildren were concerned, he didn't give up on anything. He wanted to fly planes and get his pilots' license....he did that and loved being in an ultra light business with his friend, Harland.

Health issues became very real in 1992 at which time he retired, to receive a kidney transplant in 1995. The transplant gave him a "new lease on life" and he went "full steam ahead", traveling to places he'd dreamed of, taking family along to share the experience! Back to the hay fields he loved, always. He spent time with the church Men's Club helping the elderly and needy using his wood splitter to split and deliver firewood.

Following time spent in Scottsboro, AL with Burlington Industries he returned to his boyhood church, Mt. Zion, and served as Sunday School Superintendent. His present church, Memorial United Methodist was built in 1970, he didn't miss a beat; serving on Building Committee, as Church Trustee, on Administrative Board and Men's Club president. In the community he was active in West Macon Volunteer Fire Dept., serving as chief for a period of time and was a member of Junaluska Lodge #145. During his time in Scottsboro, AL, he was Boy Scout Leader of Troop #18.

He enjoyed the 22 years he spent at LBJ Job Corps. serving as the fire suppressant person who took teams to forest fires in most of the lower 48, including the Yellowstone Fire.Wayne was an inspiration to all who had the pleasure of knowing him! He will be missed.
