Lee LaLonde
Franklin,
NC - Linda Lee LaLonde, age 68, of Trimont Lake Estates Rd., Franklin,
NC passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2010 in a local hospital. Born
in Dundee, MI she was the daughter of the late Herbert H. and Margaret
Weiss Waterstadt. She was married to Gary Francis LaLonde for twenty
eight years. She was an executive secretary for the Chamber of Commerce
in Palm Beach Gardens. She was of the Lutheran faith.
In
addition to her husband she is survived by one step-daughter, Hope
Elizabeth LaLonde of Water Town, NY; one son, Shawn Smith of Pettman,
NJ; one step-son, Gerald Carlton LaLonde of Rochester, NY; one sister,
Deborah Lueck of Monroe, MI; two brothers, Paul Waterstadt of Tavares,
MI and James Waterstadt of Monroe, MI. Three grandchildren also
survive. She was preceded in death by one step-son, Gary Frances
LaLonde, Jr. who died in 1983.
A
memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations

Judy Kathleen
Lander
Highlands -
Judy Kathleen Lander, a native Houstonian, died Monday, May 9 in
her Birdhouse home in the mountains of Highlands, NC
where she had lived since 2002. She was 68. Mrs. Lander, known as
a sweet woman with a big heart, was the daughter of James Stratton
Wax and Lolita Phillips Wax. She graduated from Lamar High School
in 1961 and attended the University of Texas where she studied Classics.
She graduated from the University of Houston with a B.A. in English
after marrying Greg Martin in 1965. Also an accomplished pianist
and vocalist, she combined her music and writing skills to help
write and direct many amateur performances for her childrens
schools and community organizations in New Orleans, Louisiana where
she lived for 12 years. When she moved back to Houston to help care
for her parents, she met and married in 1987 the love of her life,
Jack W. Lander, Jr. Together they enjoyed traveling, golfing, and
working on Jacks farm in Hallettsville, Texas. In 1998 they
bought the house in Highlands where they could golf and enjoy the
lush glory of the Nantahala National Forest. Jack passed away there
in 2002.
She is survived
by her brother and sister-in-law Robert and Debbie Wax and their
son and daughter-in-law Todd and; her daughter and son-in-law Kathleen
and Guido Faas and their children, Stella and Archer; her son and
daughter-in-law Andrew and Bronwen Martin and their children Olive,
Coral and Stratton; and her three beloved shih-tzus, Pandy, Foxy
and Inzi.
A memorial service
will held at George Lewis Funeral Home in Houston, Texas, on Saturday,
May 28 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family

NC - Audrey Virginia Ledbetter, age 74, of Gibson Cove Rd., Franklin,
NC passed away Friday, December 24, 2010 in a local hospital. A
native of Macon County, she was the daughter of the late J. D. and
Kate Green Gibson. She was married to Max Ledbetter for 55 years.
Audrey was office manager for Dr. J. L. Hill Optometrist for 38
years. She was a 1955 graduate of Franklin High School with perfect
attendance for twelve years. She was a loving mother, grandmother,
wife and sister. Audrey was a sports fan, was a star basketball
player for Franklin High School and held the record for number of
points scored for several years. She was a member of Louisa Chapel
United Methodist Church and a member of Nequassa Chapter Order of
Eastern Star.
In
addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Robert Max
Ledbetter and Stephen Thomas Ledbetter and wife Diana "Tater"
all of Franklin, NC, one brother, Dan Gibson of Franklin, NC; one
granddaughter, Sara Beth Ledbetter; one brother-in-law, Dolan Bates
and one sister-in-law, Margaret Gibson. She was preceded in death
by one sister, Mavis "Babe" Bates, three brothers, Carroll
Gibson, L. T. Gibson and Robbie Gibson.
Funeral
services will be held Monday, December 27, 2010 at 2:00 pm, receiving
friends from 1:00-2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, in the
Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home with Rev. David L. Crunkleton
officiating. Burial will be in Carson Cemetery.Pallbearers will

MI & Franklin - John W. Ledbetter of Waterford, MI, age 56,
passed away peacefully on the evening of January 2, 2011. John was
born January 14, 1954 and is survived by his mother Louise, his
brother Bobbie (Dee-Dee), his four children Ali Reickel (Rick),
Lia, Tami Damiani (Matt), John and his three grandchildren Richard,
Tucker and Alex. Preceded in death by his father Bobbie and brother
Bill. John devoted 34 years of his life to General Motors. He loved
his family more than words could ever express. John will forever
be known for his ability to fix anything, his sense of humor and
his kind generous heart. His time came too soon and he will be missed
dearly. May he rest in peace and dance with the Angels in heaven.
A Celebration of Johns Life will be held Thursday, January
6, 2011 7:30 p.m. at Donelson, Johns and Evans Funeral Home. The

a construction worker, and enjoyed fishing, and loved animals. He
was Baptist by faith.
He

Bob, of Franklin, NC, Carole Aiello and her husband Roland of Kirkland,

Ledford and his wife Linda of Danielsonville, GA, and William Dugan
Ledford of, Franklin, NC, he was preceded in death by a brother
Talmadge Lee Ledford, he is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Edwin Ledford, age 76, of Hannah Drive, Franklin, NC, passed away
Sunday, August 3, 2008 at his residence. He was a native of Clay
County, the son of the late Benjamin A. Ledford and Ora Mae Hooper
Ledford. He was retired from Macon County, where he was a Solid
Waste Supervisor, and had worked for United States Department of
Agriculture as an inspector. In earlier years he owned and operated
a poultry business. He was an avid coon hunter and was a member
of Macon County Coon Hunters Association. He was a member of Black
Mountain Baptist Church, where he served as Choir Director and Deacon,
and was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather.
He is survived
by his wife of 54 years, Helen Ledford; two daughters, Cathy Parris
and her husband Sherman and Pam Henry all of Franklin, NC; one son,
Denny Ledford and his wife Missy of Franklin, NC; one sister, Lois
Guest of Franklin, NC; one brother, Raymond Ledford of Webster,
NC; five grandchildren, Luke and Brock Crawford, Misty Haynie, Amy
Jennings, and Samantha Ledford; six great grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Louise Ledford, age 82 of Penland Road, Hayesville, NC, passed away
Wednesday, March 31, 2010 in Gainesville, GA. She was a native of
Clay County, the daughter of the late Van Buren Roach and Berlia
R. Ledford Dailey. She was married first to Paul Patterson of Hayesville,
NC and second to Edward Neal Ledford, who passed away April, 1991.
She was a seamstress for thirty years at Carolina Dress Factory
in Hiawassee, GA. She enjoyed her gardening, flowers, and loved
and enjoyed her family. She attended Hayesville Church of God, where
she taught Sunday School.
She
is survived by three daughters, Eulene Burrell, Kay and husband
Roy Free, Jr., and Gayla and husband Larry Shepherd all of Hayesville,
NC; two sons, Ondas Brown and wife Becky of Jonesboro, GA and Carl
E. Patterson and wife Martha of Hayesville, NC; three sisters, Iva
Martin of Murphy, NC, Jessie Coffey of Aiken, SC, and Rebecca Dills
of Hayesville, NC; three brothers, Sam Roach and Thurman Roach both
of Hayesville, NC and Dan Roach of Robinsville, NC; ten grandchildren,
eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren also
survive. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Virgil Roach
and Bobby Roach.

Taylor. She was married to Kenneth Ledford for 52 years and was
retired from Belden Electric Cord after 25 years service. She was
a member of Windy Gap Baptist Church and enjoyed Church, family
and children.

addition to her husband she is survived by two daughters, Pamela
Miller and husband Jerry and Kathy Thompson all of Franklin, NC;
one son, Kennie Ledford of Franklin, NC; two sisters, Gracie Coggins
of Franklin, NC and Dolly Pattillo of Smyrna, GA; two brothers,
Jim Taylor of Lorain, OH and Tom Taylor of Franklin, NC. Nine grandchildren
and three great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in
death by two brothers, Furman and Allen Taylor.

Ledford, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother,
finished this lifes journey and went to be with her Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ on Sep. 4, 2008.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Hershel
Ledford; two sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Cheryl Ledford
of Easley, SC, and Tim and Kathy Ledford of Indian Trail, NC; three
grandchildren, Ryan Ledford and wife, Jeni, of Monroe, NC, Kathryn
Ledford of Charleston, SC, and Michael Ledford of Easley, SC; two
great-grandchildren, Jacob and Madison Ledford of Monroe, NC; and
one sister, Louise Wild of Knoxville, TN.
Shes is predeceased by her parents, Samuel Byers
Wild and Sue Roberson Wild, two sisters, Nell Burnett and Loyce
Duckett, and two half sisters, Ruby Irons, and Lena Irons.
Maxie ws born and raised in Etowah, TN, where she
gradudated from high school as class Salutatorian. She served her
country during World War II by working at Oak Ridge, TN.
Maxie was a devout Christian and loved to help others,
especially little children. She kept the nursery at Chantilly and
Cornerstone Baptist Churches for fifty-two years, retiring in 2004.
Maxie loved to bake and enjoyed sharing her talent with everyone
she met. At church she helped serve the Wednesday night suppers.

Visitation was held from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Sunday
evening Sept. 7, 2008 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial

Willie Ray Ledford, age 86, of Franklin, NC passed away Friday,
November 7, 2008 in a Sylva Nursing Home. He was a native of Macon
County and was the son of the late Hernando and Cortie Bingham Ledford.
Mr. Ledford was a U S Army Veteran of WWII and was a retired crane
operator He was a member of Black Mtn Baptist Church and attended
Windy Gap Baptist Church.
Surviving are
two daughters, Barbara Cowart of Franklin, NC and Jean Register
of Oviedo, FL. Eighteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren
also survive.
Funeral services
will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 10, 2008 at Bryant-Grant
Funeral Home with Rev. Mike McConnell officiating. Burial will be
held at Black Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. Phil Terrell, Brian

Whittier, NC - Joshua Eugene Bernhisel Lee, age 26, of Whittier,
NC, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2008 at his residence. He was
a native of Swain County, NC, the son of Violet Bernhisel Lee of
Whittier, NC, and the late Glen D. Long. He was a construction worker,
and a Baptist by faith. He was a member of Wolfetown Stickball Team.
He is survived by his wife, Angela Esquivel, three daughters, Emma
Gene Bernhisel, Olivia Mae Bernhisel and Jaylynne Kay Esquivel all
of Cherokee, NC; two step-daughters, Kami Esquivel and Bryton Esquivel
of Cherokee, NC; two brothers, Brandon W. Lee and Chad L. Bernhisel
both of Whittier, NC.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 20th at 1:00pm at
Yellow Hill Baptist Church in Cherokee, with Preacher Red Bradley
and Preacher Denny Crowe officiating. Burial will be in the Church
Cemetery. Members of Wolfetown Stickball Team will serve as pallbearers.
The body will be taken to the Church at 1:00pm Wednesday, where
it will remain until the hour of the service.

Wittig Lemaire
Franklin, NC - Johanna
Wittig Lemaire, 99 of Franklin, NC, went home to be with her Lord
on the 24th day of January 2010. She was born in Wattensheid, Germany
on the 10th day of February 1910. She was the last of seven children
born to Wilhelm and Emilie Wittig. In addition to her parents, she
was preceded in death by her husband, Georg Lemaire, sisters, Emma,
Paula, Friedchen, Lieschen, and Martha, and one brother Hannes.
She
loved the Lord and was a member of Union Methodist Church of Franklin.
She loved gardening, reading the Bible, and her rose bush. She was
most loving and unselfish to the many friends that had come to visit
with her. Thank you to all that knew my grandmother and visited
with her.
She
is survived by a son, Luwe Lemaire of Franklin, NC, grandchildren:
Angel Lemaire of Franklin, Deanna Stacey and husband Dan of Alabama,
Gina Davis and husband Eric of Florida and Christopher Lemaire of
Franklin, NC; great-grandchildren, Heidi, Joshua, D. J., Michael,
George, Waylon, Amber, Zachary, Taylor; great-great-granchildren,
Dakota, Hanna, Savannah, Skiler, and nieces and nephews in the Netherlands.
The
family would like to extend its sincere gratitude to the nurses,
CNAs and staff on orange hall at Britthaven of Franklin for
their care, support and compassion. She will be solely missed by

- Leshaw, Jay, 85, of Miami passed away Jan. 10 2011. He was born
in Brooklyn, NY. Jay graduated from the University of Miami in 1950
after serving 3 years in the Air Force. He began his professional
career as an archetecht and later becane Senior VP of Ceasar's World
in Las Vegas.
After
retirement he began a second career as a real estate consultant
as a founder of Tecton, a business that continues to this day. He
was a founding member of Temple Beth Am and a contributor to Technion,
Brandeis, Hadassah, and many other causes. He enjoyed flying his
own plane and attending to Hidden Valley Farm in Franklin. NC. and
poker games with his friends. He and his wife were world travellers
along with their children and grandchildren. His kind heart and
sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.
He
is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth, daughter Meredeth (Carlos)
Wolf, sons Gary and Dale (Gail) Leshaw, grandchildren Matthew, Jordana,
Jarrod, Alyssa, and Mallory.
Funeral
services will be held Wed. (Today) at 10:30 AM at Temple Beth Am,
5950 N. Kendall Dr. with interment in Mt. Nebo Kendall Memorial
Gardens.

Francis Lewicki, age 87, of Highlands, NC, died Friday, February 22,
2008 at the Eckerd Living Center. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, the
son of the late Adam and Stephanie Lewicki. He was preceded in death
by three sisters and two brothers.
He retired from
Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., where he was office manager for
34 years. He was a member and past vice-commander in the American
Legion Charter in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and was a WWII veteran.
He was a member of the Lady of The Mountain Catholic Church.
He is survived
by his wife of 63 years, Clara Cetner Lewicki; his two sons, William

NC - Mack
William Lewis, age 75, of Lewis Rd., Franklin, NC passed away Tuesday,
December 28, 2010 in a local hospital. A native of Macon County,
NC he was the son of the late Oscar William and Vashtie Kiser Lewis.
He was married to Frances McClure Lewis for fifty-two years. He
was a machine operator in the textile industry.
In
addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Missy Ledford
and husband Denny of Franklin, NC; two sons, Mackie and Keith Lewis
both of Franklin, NC; three sisters, Alice Coss, Mary Brooks and
Babs Neely all of Frankln, NC. Two grandchildren, Dale Lewis and
Samantha Ledford, one step-grandchild, Luke Hunter and 1 great-grandchild,
Rylee Rogers also survive.
Funeral
services will be held Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 2:30 pm in
the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Don Moffitt officiating.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Denny Ledford,
Jim Williams, Dale Lewis, Luke Hunter, Tim Neely and Ross Shields.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Dowdle, Dick Mashburn, Robert
Wallace, Shorty Bateman and Raymond Shepherd. The family will receive
friends from 1:30 - 2:30 pm, one hour prior to the service, at Bryant-Grant
Funeral Home.

Franklin, NC
- Karen Gail Gaston Loetzer, age 60, of Country Bend Road, Franklin,
NC passed away Thursday, July 30, 2009 at her residence. She was
born in Coral Gables, FL, the daughter of the late Robert Lloyd
and Frances Reed Gaston. She was employed by The Franklin Press
where she was an advertising sales representative. She was a member
of the Quilters Quild, Chamber of Commerce Board Member and volunteer,
and the First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived
by her husband of 26 years, Russell Robert Loetzer; one son, Robert
Loetzer of Ozark, MO; two grandchildren; one brother, Randall Lloyd
Gaston of Bellflower, CA; nieces and nephews, Laura, Lucy and Joseph
Gaston of Hixson, TN.
A memorial service
will be held Sunday, August 2 at 4:00 PM at the First Presbyterian
Church with Pastor Bob Able officiating.

Edmond Long
Franklin,
NC - John Edmond Long passed away June 7, 2009 at his residence
in Franklin, NC, after a long illness. A native of Jackson County,
NC, he was the son of the late B. Napolean and Lizzie Bryson Long.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first
wife, Roberta, two infants, Daniel and Barbara, brothers, Ben, Dewey,
Glenn, Lewis and David Long.
As
a teen, John served in the three CCCs, at which time he helped
erect the monument at Newfound Gap in the Great Smokies, which was
dedicated by former President Roosevelt. He then went on to serve
in the Merchant Marines. He retired from the Wayne-Westland School
District, in Wayne, Michigan, several years ago.
He
is survived by his wife, Sandra "Elayne" McCoy Long and
step-grandson, Billy Blackwell of the home, sons, Ed and wife, Kathy
of Woodhaven, Michigan, Bob and his wife, Mary of Belleville, Michigan,
daughters, Susan Long of Westland, Michigan and Sandra Clark of
Livonia, Michigan, sister, Jenna Vee Duncan of S. San Francisco,
California, brothers, Vernon Long, of Las Vegas, Nevada and Leslie
Long of Weaverville, NC; grandsons, Ryan and wife Mallory, Colin
and wife Valerie, and Branden Long and Sean Clark, one great-grandson,
Connor Long, step-son,Dwayne Blackwell, step-daughter, Darice Davis
and husband Kevin, step-grandchildren, Billy, Bobby and Sara Blackwell
and Kayley and Lindsey Davis. John was a member of Fair Haven Baptist
Church of Westland, Michigan.
Graveside
services will be held at 3:00pm Wednesday, June 10th at Cullowhee
Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Eddie Stillwell will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Long, Branden Long, Sean Clark, Billy Blackwell,
Mark Long and Dale McCall. Honorary pallbearers will be Algie McCall
and Colin Long.

Lillian Wilson

Topton, NC -
Lillian Wilson Long, age 86, of Junaluska Road, Topton, NC passed
away Friday, November 26, 2010 at a Murphy Hospital. She was born
in Cherokee County, NC the daughter of the late Lee R. Mann and
Nellie Morgan Mann. She was first married to Wayne Wilson who passed
away in 1954 and second to John Long who passed away in 1984. She
was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She was a loving mother
and grandmother and loved to garden.
She is survived
by three daughters, JoAnn Solesbee and her husband, Jim of Nantahala,
NC, Violet Sellers of Adrian, GA and Barbara Prince of Nantahala,
NC; one step-daughter, Syretta Beatty of Gastonia, NC. Three grandsons,
six granddaughters, nine great-grandsons, nine great-granddaughters,
two great-great-granddaughters, and two great-great-grandsons also
survive. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Earl Sellers,
one son, Joe Lee Wilson, one granddaugher, Dotsy Wilson, one great-grandson,
Hunter Cope; two sisters, Lillie Mae Clark and Loree Clark; one
brother, Boyce Waldroop.
Funeral services
will be held Monday, November 29 at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Townson-Rose
Funeral Home in Andrews with Rev. Jerry Lambert officiating. Burial
will be held at Aquone Cemetery. Grandsons and Great-Grandsons will
serve as pallbearers. Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will
receive friends Monday, November 29 from 1:00-2:00PM, one hour prior
to service at Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Andrews.

Deneice Lynn, age 68, of Hickory Gap Road, Franklin, NC passed away,
Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at her residence. She was a native of
Orleans County, NY, the daughter, of the late Curtis L. Blount and
Bernadine H. Parker Blount. She had worked as a trainer for State
Farm Insurance, and was a member of the Red Hat Society.
She is survived
by her daughter, Sheree Lewison of Plant City, FL and her son, David
Lynn of Orlando, FL; a grandson, Brett Kahne also survives.

Elaine Luly passed away December 7, 2008 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL at
the age of 85.
She was born
in Hibbing, MN to Edwin and Myrtle Nord Stromwall and grew up in
Aberdeen, SD, where she earned her nursing degree at Presentation
College. She became a Cadet Nurse during World War II. Joyce and
her husband, Captain George Luly, spent most of their lives in Duluth,
MN and Ft. Lauderdale, moving to Franklin after The Captains
retirement in 1971. Joyce spent many years as a registered nurse
at Angel Hospital and also at Woodridge Hospital in Clayton, GA.
In addition
to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and her
sister, Janis. She is survived by four children; Jill, Jolaine,
Kathleen and Michael, as well as seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service
will be held at St. Agnes Episcopal Church on August 14 at 2:00
PM with The Rev. Dorrie Pratt officiating.
