Sam
Zachary
Highlands,
NC - Sam Zachary, age 67, of Highlands, NC, was called home, Wednesday,
May 12, 2010. He was a native of Macon County, the son of the late
Bert and Callie Talley Zachary. He was a Property Manager for Sweetwater
Farms, and was also a Building Contractor. He was a founding member
of Dry Ridge Hunting Club, and was a retired member of Highlands
Fire and Rescue after twenty-five years service. He was a US Army
Veteran having served during the Vietnam War, and was a member of
Pine Grove Baptist Church. Sam was a loving husband, father and
grandfather.
He
is survived by his wife of 44 years, Frances Irene McCall Zachary;
two daughters, Jennifer Zachary Buchanan and husband Chad of Clayton,
GA and Priscilla Zachary Young and husband Greg of Franklin, NC;
two sisters, Jessie Manley of Highlands, NC and Elizabeth "Tib"
Swafford of Mtn. Rest, SC; two grandchildren, Hollis Meyer and McKayla
Buchanan also survive. In
addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers,
Charles Zachary, Harley Zachary, Mike "Lard" Zachary,
and George "Scrubby" Zachary.
Funeral
services will be held Saturday, May 15th at 11:00 am at Pine Grove
Baptist Church, with Rev. Greg Rogers and Rev. Walter Wilson officiating.
Burial will be at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Members of Dry Ridge Hunting
Club will serve as pallbearers and members of Highlands Fire and
Rescue will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The
family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday evening
at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home in Highlands, where the body will remain
until placed in the Church thirty-minutes prior to the service.

may be made to Mt. Moriah Cemetery Fund, c/o Mary Owens, 21 Pine
Cone Drive, Franklin, NC 28734.

Anna Stashi
Zajac
Highlands -
Anna Stashi Zajac, age 93, of Highlands, NC, passed away Friday,
January 27, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Stanley and Anna
Stanchek. She had worked for Avery Label Company and was a member
of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church. She was married first to William
Drodsik and second to John Zajac.
She is survived
by a son, Bill Drodsik and his wife Barbara of Highlands, NC; two
sisters, Frances Purvis and Sophia Bobonich both of Pittsburg, PA;
one brother, Stanley Stanchek of Pittsburg, PA; two grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death
by a daughter, Jean Pavlic.
Funeral services
will be held Monday, January 30th at 12:00 at Kepner Funeral Home,
Burke Chapel in Wheeling, West Virginia. Burial will be at Park
View Memorial Gardens in Wheeling, West Virginia. Family friends
will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 1648,
Franklin, NC 28744.

Lee Zickgraf
Franklin,
NC - Cora
Lee Zickgraf, age 83, of West Rogers Street, Franklin, NC passed
away Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at a local nursing home. She was born
in Chattooga Co., GA. the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Elizabeth
McNutt Harris. She was first married to Wingfield Short who passed
away April 23, 1977 and second to Grant Zickgraf who passed away
April 26, 2001. She was a retired office manager and bookkeeper
for Zickgraf Enterprises. She had a love for cooking, flowers and
traveling. Mrs. Zickgraf was a member of the First United Methodist
Church.
She
is survived by her daughter, Melanie Moffitt and her husband, David
of Franklin, NC; her grandchildren, Adam Cook and his wife, Leslie,
Evan Moffitt, Erin Moffitt and Alex Moffitt; two sisters, Frances
Wilhoit of Colorado and Myrtle Mayer of Ft. Myers, FL and one brother,
Edward Harris of Mississippi. She was preceded in death by two sisters
and three brothers.
Graveside
services will be held Thursday, April 23 at 11:00AM at Holly Springs
Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Don Moffitt officiating.
In
lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist
Church, 66 Harrison Avenue, Franklin, NC 28734.

Amparo "Amy"
Gandia Zimmerman
Highlands, NC
- Amparo "Amy" Gandia Zimmerman, age 90, of Highlands,
NC passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 14, 2012 surrounded
by her family. Born in Manati, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter
of the late Angel and Manuela Rosa Gandia. She was a nurses aide.
Amy was survived
by one daughter, Jane Capman and husband Philip "Cap"
Capman of Highlands, NC and one granddaughter, Cory and her husband
James.
In lieu of flowers

Jessie Lee
Zimmerman
Franklin - Jessie
Lee Zimmerman, age 84, of Franklin, NC passed away Saturday August
18, 2012 at Angel Medical Center. She was a native of Macon County,
the daughter of the late Henry and Rettie Anderson Mashburn. She
was married to Everett Zimmerman, who passed away in 1995.
She is survived
by two sons, Jack Zimmerman of Franklin, NC and Sidney Zimmerman
of Starr, SC; two sisters, Ruth Cision of Greenville, SC and Pauline
Williamson of Franklin, NC; two brothers, Roy Mashburn of Franklin,
NC and George Mashburn of Greenville, SC; seven grandchildren and
two great grandchildren.
Funeral services
will be held Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of
Bryant Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Carson Gibson and Rev. Bennie
Hurst officiating. Burial will be held at Iotla Methodist Church
Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steven Williamson, Seth Williamson,
Roger Williamson, Jamie Mathis, Matthew Bingham, Gabe Bingham and
Jacob Bingham.
The family will
receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 - 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the
service, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may
be made to the Iotla United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund. c/o
