Annie (Lequire) Rogers

Annie Lequire Rogers, 89, of Franklin passed away Monday, October 30, 2017. Born in Bryson City and later relocating to Franklin due to the construction of Fontana Dam, she was the daughter of the late William Henderson Lequire and Martha Emmaline Taylor Lequire. She was married to Tommy Lee Rogers who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Rogers was very humble and kind‑hearted and she loved her family very much. She enjoyed quilting, babysitting and was an excellent cook and to the delight of those who enjoyed her cooking made lots of biscuits and gravy. She made many friends at Macon Valley and the family would like to express their thanks to the staff for their wonderful care. She was a member of Tessentee Church of God.

Survivors include her daughters, Hilda Brown (Theodore) of Asheville, Marsha Smith (Fred) of Tiger, GA and Brenda Rogers Ledford of Franklin; sons, Jimmy Rogers of Franklin, Lee Rogers of Franklin, Wayne Rogers (Beverly) of Albemarle, NC and Terry Rogers of Franklin; grandchildren, Jesse Guffie (Courtney) of Franklin, Jake Guffie (Jamie) of Clayton, Donna Drake (David) of Leicester, Bridget King (Kenneth) of Swannanoa and Tiffany Hummel (Stephen) of Franklin; nine great‑grandchildren and seven great‑great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Wooten and Rozelle Angel (Bobby) all of Franklin; one brother, Franklin Lequire (Margie) of Franklin and numerous nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a great‑grandson, Deacon Guffie; two brothers, Harley Lequire and Carl Lequire and three sisters, Polly Cook, Della Cook and Beulah Cunningham.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 11:00 am at House of Hope Church with Rev. Greg Bartram, Rev. Robert Dryman and Rev. Aaron Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Wright Cemetery. David Drake, Dylan Drake, Jesse Guffie, Jake Guffie, Stephen Hummel and Kenneth King will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Taylor Brown, Matt King, Justin King, Andy King, Cooper Guffie, Carsyn Guffie and Jackson Guffie.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 ‑ 8:00 pm at Bryant‑Grant Funeral Home and Crematory.
