Betty Jean (Shope) Brown

Betty Jean Shope Brown "Muffy", age 82, of Otto, NC passed away Thursday, May 28, 2015 at a local hospital. She was born in Macon County, NC, the daughter of the late Julia Mashburn Shope. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great‑grandmother, sister and aunt who loved gardening, reading and sewing. She was a member of Coweeta Baptist Church.

Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband of 62 years, James Louis Brown; one daughter, Kristie Marie Krejci and husband Jacob of Waynesville; two sons, Gary Brown and wife Anne of Husun, MT, James D. Brown and wife Julie of Waterford, MI; one sister, Ruth Holbrooks of Highpoint, NC; a very special niece, Julia Ann Dowdle; very special nephew, Ronnie Dowdle and his wife Ruthie and several other nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.  Also surviving are grandchildren, Tori Brown Audtrish, James Krejci, Annabelle Krejci, Avery Audtrish, Johnny Audtrish, James N. Brown and Jessica Brown.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Mark A. Brown; two sisters, Marie Shope Crawford and Madge Shope Dowdle and four brothers, W. J. Shope, J. D. Shope, Nelse Shope and Frank Shope.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 31, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Coweeta Baptist Church with Rev. Davis Hooper officiating.  Burial will be in Rush Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Jacob Krejci, James Krejci, Damon Crawford and Larry Shope.  The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 ‑ 8:00 pm at Bryant‑Grant Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Coweeta Baptist Church Building Fund, 780 Coweeta Church Road, Otto, NC  28763.
