Charles Benjamin Sammet

March 22, 1933 ~ December 5, 2017 (age 84) 84 Years Old


Charles Benjamin Sammet, 84, of Franklin passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017. He was born and raised in Melrose, Massachusetts, the son of the late Francis P. and Carro Cameron Sammet.

Mr. Sammet served in the U. S. Air Force for 10 years and in the U. S. Coast Guard for 22 years. He was employed by the Bionetics Corporation of Hampton, VA and managed the measurement laboratory at Kennedy Space Center. 

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Franklin and was also very active in the Presbyterian Church. He touched many lives while serving the community and enjoyed the fun of umpiring baseball games.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Joyce W. Sammet; children, Charles C. Sammet (Allison) of Kentucky and Eileen M. Heasley (James) of Virginia, and grandchildren, James Heasley, Jr. "Jamer", Benjamin Sammet, Alyssa Sammet and Christopher A. Mack.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church in Franklin with Rev. David Beam and Rev. Margaret Freeman officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
