David McClain

David McClain, 79 of Gainesville passed away Monday August 7, 2017.

Born in Rabun County, Georgia, Mr. McClain had lived in Hall County since 1983.  He was the son of the late Ray and Rosa Bleckley McClain.  Mr. McClain was retired from the Georgia Forestry Commission where he served as the District Forester.  He was very active with Gideons International and was a member and deacon of Corinth Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Nancy McClain, Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie McClain Stephens (Stanley), Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Mark McClain (Rachael), Snyder, Texas; grandchildren, Zach McClain (Jessica), Colby McClain (Shelby), Cassie McClain, Ellie Forrester, Mattie Forrester, Hope Taylor (Ethan), Bekah Stephens, Sara Rose McClain, Eli McClain, Cody Stephens, great grandchildren, Burke McClain and Henry Taylor, brothers, William "Bill" McClain, Hiawassee, Zane McClain, Mullens, West Virginia. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. McClain is preceded in death by his parents and a number of brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday August 10, 2017 at Corinth Baptist Church.  Dr. Steve Albanese and Dr. Chris Swan will officiate.  Interment will be at 3:30 p.m. in the Highlands Cemetery in Highlands, North Carolina.  The family will receive friends at Little & Davenport Funeral Home Wednesday August 9 from 5-7 p.m.  Mr. McClain will lie in state at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to The Alzheimers Research, 22512 Gateway Center Dr. Clarksburg, MD 20871.
