Earl Griffin

Earl Griffin, 79, of Franklin, NC passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018.  Born in Wauchula, Florida, he was the son of the late Noah and Mellie Griffin.  Earl has been a permanent resident of Franklin, NC since 2003.  He is survived by his wife Millie Griffin and several grown children.  Daughter Margaret and husband Dean Todd of Dothan, AL, daughter Misty and husband Lee Winter of Tampa, FL, daughter Jeannie and husband Ray West of Brandon, FL, daughter Teresa and husband Greg Morris of Ruskin, FL and one son Earl James Griffin of Tampa, FL.  He was the proud grandfather of Elaine Sanders, Michael and Erin Todd of Dothan, AL, Nathan, Brittany, Samantha and Catherine Morris of FL, Allen West of Tampa, FL and Taylor and Cameron Winter of Tampa, FL, and had two granddaughters by his son Earl. His grown grandchildren also gave him several great-grandchildren.  Earl also was very proud and loved dearly his four-legged daughter and best friend Katie.

He proudly served eleven years in the U. S. Army Reserve. Before and during his years in the reserve he was employed with Sears and then went on to work at Johnson Controls of Tampa, FL where he worked until retirement. 

Earl’s favorite pastimes were being outdoors, fishing, working in his workshop where he created beautiful furnishings.  He loved spending time jawing with all the customers at the bookstore that he and his wife own in Franklin, NC as well as spending time with his dog.  After retirement, Earl had the privilege to many travels abroad and throughout the US which he spoke of often.  He was an avid book lover and enjoyed the challenge of knowledge from his novels.  He strongly had faith in God and Christian beliefs. 

A memorial service will be held at the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home at 105 West Main Street, Franklin, NC, February 10th at 2:00pm and will be officiated by Rev. Clark Sheffield.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731, in memory of Earl Griffin.
