Glenn Raymond Graham, 75, of Franklin, NC passed away Monday, April 24, 2017. He was born at home on Depot Street in Franklin, NC on November 1, 1941, to Mary Jo Elmore Graham and Olan "Pop" Graham. Glenn was an authentic boy of the NC Mountains. His sisters remember their brother roaming the mountains with his friends, bringing home fish and small game for the dinner table. Glenn attended Louisa Chapel United Methodist Church, where his father "Pop" Graham played the piano and led the singing.
He soon followed his brother Jimmy into the US Air Force, serving proudly for 20 years as a mechanic and shop supervisor for heavy equipment and special vehicles, retiring as a Master Sergeant. Tours of overseas duty took him to Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War, to Korea, and twice to Germany. Glenn lived in Texas until returning to his hometown in 2010, where his health problems were the battles he faced and fought every minute of every day. His last two and half years were at Grandview Manor where he made friends, shared his knowledge of vehicle repairs to those in need, and participated in every event involving the country and gospel music that he loved. He appreciated the care he received at Grandview, from Hospice nurses, and from his dedicated medical doctor, Versi Aruwani, MD. He was profoundly proud of his military service, proudly displayed his numerous medals and ribbons, and supported the Vietnam Veterans of America, Disabled American Veterans and American Legion.
In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by a brother, James "Jimmy" Graham. Surviving relatives include his son Gordon, of Taylor, TX; sisters, Lorraine Rowland (husband Dan) of Macon, GA, Beulah Elizabeth Graham of Brunswick, GA and Claire Graham of Franklin, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews and great‑nieces and nephews.
Glenn will be laid to rest at 1:00 pm Thursday, April 27 at Louisa Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery with military rites provided by his brothers‑in‑arms. Rev. Andy Cloer will officiate. Visitation will be at Bryant‑Grant Funeral Home and Crematory from 11:30 am ‑ 12:30 pm, prior to the service.
