Martha Rea (Anders) McConnell Kell

Martha Rea Anders McConnell Kell, 98, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018. She was born March 2, 1919 in Rabun County, Ga.   She lived all of her adult life in Otto, NC where she raised her family.  Mrs. McConnell was the daughter of the late Manuel Anders and Georgia Head Anders.  She was preceded in death by husbands, Ray McConnell and Donald Kell. She was a member of the Tessentee Church of God (House of Hope).

          She is survived by a daughter, Emma Miller of Scaly Mountain, NC; two sons: Charles McConnell (Sharon) of Otto, NC and Sam McConnell also of Otto, NC; daughter-in-laws: Elizabeth McConnell, Ruby Ann McConnell and Linda Stewart; son-in-law, Richard Miller; and stepchildren: Janice Welch, Marilyn Jenkins, Carolyn Keener, Jerry Kell and Christine Sorrells. She is also survived by two sisters: Mary Vinson and Ruby Green; 27 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-great-grandchild.

          She was preceded in death by her children: Alice Miller, George McConnell, Kenneth McConnell, and James McConnell; stepchildren: Elmo Kell, Catherine Crisp and Shirley Moore; and one great-granddaughter.  She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Theodore Anders and Luther Anders; three sisters: Derotha Owens, Virta Wilson, and Rosetta Holland; and a son-in-law, Everette Miller.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2017, at the Tessentee Church of God (House of Hope) with the Rev. Eugene Moore and Rev. Greg Bartram officiating.  The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 9, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bryant Grant Funeral Home and Crematory.
