Rebecca Early Clary entered eternal life on Friday the 23rd of June in the comfort of her own home in Madison, GA.

Born in 1947 in Macon, GA to Wilma Early and John Thomas Early, Rebecca grew up with her sister Raynor Early Cathey in Jeffersonville, and then Madison. Rebecca left Madison to become a Georgia Bulldog and member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority at the University of Georgia, where she received a Bachelor of Science in English Education in 1969.

After college, Rebecca became a teacher and eventually met the love of her life—Harris Dave Clary—in Augusta. After marrying, Rebecca and Dave moved to Highlands, NC, where they started Highlands Furniture. The two grew their furniture and interior decorating store into a successful business, but their greatest achievement was adopting their son, Matthew, and then their daughter, Amanda.

While Rebecca loved listening to the velvety voice of Elvis Presley, she herself could carry a beautiful melody, which she did as a member of the First United Methodist Church’s musical choir. In addition, Rebecca was a phenomenal entertainer, always ready for the next unexpected dinner guest to enjoy her southern hospitality. But Rebecca didn’t just welcome dinner guests at the table, she graciously and generously welcomed her entire home to family and friends who needed a long term place to stay, regardless of the length of time.

Those who knew Rebecca loved her gregarious personality. Her ability to turn an everyday occurrence into a hilarious tale will be greatly missed.

Rebecca is survived by: her sister, Raynor Cathey and husband, Tommy; her son, Matthew Clary and wife, Meghan; her daughter, Amanda Wooten and husband, Michael; and her four grandchildren, Kodi Blanton, Chase Clary, Elle Clary and Annabelle Wooten.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Rebecca’s family on Monday, June 26, 2017 between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at A.E. Carter Funeral Home, 1670 Atlanta Hwy, Madison, GA 30650 and on Friday, June 30, 2017 between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. at Highlands United Methodist Church, 315 Main Street, Highlands, NC 28741. Rebecca’s funeral service will take place following the latter’s visitation on Friday, June 30th at 3:00 p.m. at Highlands United Methodist Church.
