Anne Sorrells Brogden, 69, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2019.
Anne was born in Macon County October 7, 1949 to the late Grover and Hattie Wooten Sorrells. She was a devoted and loving wife, a great mother, and a very special Nanna to four very special grandchildren. Anne loved to read, cook, and working outside especially in the garden tending to her flowers. She was a member of the Cowee Baptist Church and of the Cowee Baptist Adult Sunday school class.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Rick Brogden of the home; oldest son, Chris Brogden and his wife, Julie of Winston Salem, NC and their two daughters, Kendall Brogden and Caitlin Brogden; youngest son, Joe Brogden and his wife, Amanda of Franklin, NC and their children, Will Brogden and Emma Brogden; a brother, Jerry Sorrells and his wife, Kay of Candler, NC; her mother-in-law, Zena Pearl Brogden of Franklin; half-siblings, Robert Sorrells and Robin Sorrells.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Huel Sorrells and Randall Sorrells; and her father-in-law, Ed Brogden.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 21, 2019 at the Cowee Baptist Church with the Rev. Jason Smith and Rev. Wesley Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Randy Sorrells, Gerald Woods, Isaac Gibson, Fred Sorrells, Phil Sorrells, and Dustin Brogden. Honorary Pallbearers will be Beth Nicholson, Kathy Woodard, and Elizabeth Truax. .
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
