Beverly Kaye (Holden) Duvall

Beverly Kaye Holden Duvall, age 63, passed into the arms of her Savior on Tuesday, June 18, 2019.  She was surrounded by her family when she was welcomed into Glory and given a new body, free from illness.  Beverly was preceded in death by her father, Gardner V. Holden and her grandparents.

She is survived by her mother, Louise B. Holden and two daughters; Diedre K. Breeden (Barry) and Tara L. Riles (Justin), along with four grandchildren, Emma, Madalynn, Samuel and Holden.

Beverly was not just immensely loved by her mother, children and their families, but her sweet and gentle spirit made her loved by everyone she met.  Beverly made a career of loving on children, spending 17 years as an educator for exceptional children until her symptoms of MS made it impossible for her to continue. She was cared for at home by her dedicated mother and children until 2007 when her care required more than they were able to provide.

She spent the end of her life at Autumn Care nursing facility where she received the best possible care from what became her 2nd family.  During her final days her family was blessed to witness the impact of her life on those who cared for her as each one took time to love on and share memories of her.

Her physical disability prevented her from doing many things, but she never allowed her circumstances to dampen her spirit.  She could light up a room with her smile and laughter and never failed to express love.

In honoring Beverly, her family would like to request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a fund created by the family dedicated to enriching Autumn Care of Waynesville, the home where she lived the last 12 years of her life.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 21, 2019 at the Cowee Baptist Church with the Rev. Jason Smith and Rev. Ronnie Branson officiating. Burial will follow in the Cowee Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Pallbearers will be Paul Dodge, Richard Lightner, David Morgan, Todd Raby, Terry Cabe, and James Greenwood.
