I met Frankie a year and a half ago in The Village Salon where she would get her hair done . I had the honor of washing her hair each time she would visit. She has always greeted me with such a warm spirit . She was such a beautiful person with such poise and a tender heart . I actually never knew she was sick until recently . Each time she laid in my shampoo chair ,I'd catch myself marveling over her beauty , inside and out . Our church has been praying for her and we will continue
to pray for all of you. Frankie will be missed by many ,however she's rejoicing now with our Lord and Savior . I am sure HE welcomed her in and said "well done my faithful servant "

We are praying for all of you during this difficult time. We treasured the friendship we had with Frankie and Tippy during our years in Cashiers.

Your mother and I grew up together in Mount Airy. My husband John also grew up with us. I was in her wedding. She was in mine. We had many adventures as we grew. Your Dad was special too. My husband and I and your parents spent many weekends together in Chapel Hill. They generously hosted us in their apartment. I am saddened that they are both gone but happy that we have such fond memories of our times together I will remember you as you grieve your loss and pray you will experience the love of God every day. May you also know the peace of Gods presence. Lucy Aldridge

This is a sorrow and shock to me. How do you limit the words about someone who growing up was your favorite person to be with. Growing up Frankie was Frankie Lou and even that name brought feelings of delight because Frankie Lou always had a smile, a compliment and a listening ear which lead to feelings of warmth and love. One of my most memorable experiences was recently after my return home from Vietnam, and a cousin's wedding, Frankie Lou and the other women were going to lunch to catch up and Frankie Lou ask if I would baby-sit Dupont and Stephen. That was one of my proudest moments; e.g., to think she would asked me to; They as their mother, were delightful and didn't give me one bit of trouble, even though they had only met me.The thoughts and feelings were the same for "Tippy" as they were with Frankie Lou and the sons I knew. My sincere sympathy to all the family and friends of the Kirvens.

DuPont, sincere condolences to you and Jan on the passing of your mother. Reading from the obituary, I can see you have a long - long connection to UNC-CH. You must have had a wonderful youth.
