George Rondal McConnell, 70, of Monroe, GA, passed away, Tuesday, March 5, 2019. He was born February 8, 1949 in Macon County, the son of the late George Lyman and Gladys Thomas McConnell. He was a member of Black Mountain Baptist Church and served his country in the Vietnam War. He liked hunting especially coon hunting, he liked dogs and guns and loved to watch western movies. He worked as a supervisor in embroidery manufacturing. After he retired he worked on small engines and was known as the "lawn mower man".
Survivors include his wife, Kenny McConnell of Marietta, SC; daughters, Rhonda Scarborough (Robert) of Monroe, GA and Melinda McConnell of Clayton, GA; grandchildren, Kaylynn McConnell, Martin Pass, Kimberly Pass, Sabrina McConnell, Danielle Fountain and Starr Thurmond; great‑grandchild, Aerielle King; and a sister, Beatrice Carpenter; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his two brothers, Dennis McConnell and Don McConnell
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Bryant‑Grant Funeral Home with Ronnie Hensley officiating. Burial will be in Black Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Martin Pass, Cody King, Chad Williams, Joshua Watts, Lee Fountain and Robert Scarborough. The family will receive friends from 10:00 till 11:00 am Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
