Glennie Louise (Buntyn) Massey

Glennie Louise Buntyn Massey, 85, of Franklin passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017. Born in Tyler, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Morgan Buntyn and Charlotte Louise Harris Buntyn.

Mrs. Massey obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Psychology from Tyler Junior College; Palm Beach Junior College and Florida State University, graduating as a special education teacher for children with disabilities. She was a very active Episcopal minister's wife for 52+ years. During the time her husband was attending Seminary, she taught school, raised three children and provided a loving home for her family. She was president of the Key Biscayne Yacht Club Seabelles from 1958 ‑ 1959. Mrs. Massey was a member of All Saints Community Episcopal Church.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, The Reverend Hoyt B. Massey; her daughter, Suzanne L. Pontiere (Regis) of Peyton, CO; her son, Scott L. Massey of St. Petersburg, FL; a daughter‑in‑law, Floride (Reedi) Shaw Massey; two grandchildren, Brian Scott Brazzeal and Alexander Nicholas Pontiere and a step‑granddaughter, Rachelle P. Henry.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Steven Massey.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 27, 2017 at St. Cyprian's Episcopal Church with The Reverend David Webb and The Reverend Carl Southerland officiating.

Burial will be in St. John's Episcopal Church Cemetery.

The family will gather with friends following the interment.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Alzheimer's Association Western Carolina Chapter, 4600 Park Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.
