Mr. James Hershel Carver, 90, passed away Monday, July 29, 2019.
Mr. Carver was born in Macon County, NC May 8, 1929 to the late Albert Laffet Carver and Icie Louise McCall Carver. He was married to the late Revylon Talley Carver who preceded him. Mr. Carver worked many years at the Highlands Country Club in many positions by taking care of the golf course, maintenance in homes, and security at the club. Hershel worked 10 years for the Town of Highlands before retiring. He was also the home care taker for the late Mr. James Floyd. He was a long member of Clear Creek Baptist Church.
Mr. Hershel enjoyed visiting Cades Cove, going to the Picking on the Square in Franklin, watching people bowl, but most of all he loved good foods and sweets.
Survivors include his son, Kenneth Carver and his wife, Debbie of Franklin; a granddaughter, Rosie Marie Bradley and her husband Chris; three grandchildren, Madison Rose Bradley, Asa Coleman Bradley, and Tyleigh Buchanan.
Mr. Carver was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Marie Webb, Edna Beatrice Nix Hurst; and a brother, Thomas Lester Carver.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 1, 2019 at the Clear Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Oliver Rice, Rev. Neil Ammons, Rev. Vic Greene and Rev. Jim Kinard officiating. Burial will follow in the Clear Creek Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home and from 12:30-2:00m P.M. Thursday prior to the service at Clear Creek Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Chris Bradley, Darryl Talley, Bob Lambert, Will Emerson, Chris Mathis, David Dalton, and Asa Bradley.
