Lee "Ed" Edward Gregory, 82, of Franklin, NC, passed away Monday, October 7, 2019. He was born in Macon Co., NC, December 31, 1936 to the late Roy and Dalene Hunnicut Gregory. He retired from the US Army after 22 years of service, where he was a mechanic. Ed served two tours of duty in Vietnam and Korea. He was stationed in France, Germany and many places across the United States. He was a member of Higdonville Baptist Church, a member of American Legion Post 108, VFW Post 7339 and Vietnam Veteran of America Post 994, and the Funeral Honor Guard for many years. He loved mechanics and rebuilt and restored his mobile home.
Survivors include his wife of 59 1/2 years, Francoise Gregory; daughter, Brenda Lee Holt (Bob) of Franklin, NC; son, James E. Gregory (Gary Smith) of Knoxville, TN; granddaughter, Samantha Huisenga (Dustin) of Ft. Myers, FL; great-grandson, Parker Huisenga; sisters, Shirley Loftin of Florida and Diane Cernan of Ohio; brothers, Bruce Gregory (Sherry) and James Gregory (Karen) of Michigan.
Ed was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Soderberg.
A Military graveside service will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at Woodlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Bud Haire officiating. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 108 and VFW Post 7339. The family will greet friends following the service at the graveside.
