Thomas Roy Tippett

Thomas Roy Tippett, 85, of Franklin, NC went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 6, 2017.  He was the son of the late Walter and Dessie Tippett.  Mr. Tippett was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict.  He was a retired textile worker and worked at both Burlington and Blue Bell.  His favorite job, however, was his second career with the Forest Service which he enjoyed greatly.  He liked to spend time reading and gardening as well.

Mr. Tippett was an active member at Cowee Baptist Church.  He served in many capacities including the building and grounds and cemetery committees and participated in music.  In addition, he loved working with children and helping with the nursery at church.  

He is survived by a daughter Angela Tippett; two sons, Tommy Tippett (Cathy) and David Tippett (Tracy); two sisters, Thelma Sanders (Ralph), and Betty Duvall; a brother Truman Tippett (Petira); five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by two special caregivers, Lynda Laborde and Allie Bonard.  Mr. Tippett was preceded in death by his wife Lillian and three brothers, James, George, and Aubrey Tippett.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Cowee Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Smith and Rev. Ronnie Branson officiating.  The family will receive family and friends from 1pm‑2pm prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cowee Baptist Church Building Fund (Attention Children’s Wing) at 6301 Bryson City Road, Franklin, NC.
