Alice (Ledbetter) Southard

Alice Ledbetter Southard, 96, of Franklin passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Macon County, the daughter of the late Harley and Essie Carpenter Ledbetter.  She was married to Dillard Southard who preceded her in death in 2006.

Mrs. Southard loved to cook "good stuff"; collect red birds and loved making ceramics and quilts.  She was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church where she sang in the choir; was a Sunday school teacher and enjoyed doing Bible School.

She is survived by a daughter, Pat Bell (Bobby) of Franklin; two sons, Willard Southard (Virgie) and Stan Southard (Evelyn) all of Franklin; three grandchildren, Marty Southard (Ginger), Rob Bell (Kim) and Jeff Southard (Danielle); two great‑grandchildren, Morgan Southard and J. D. Southard, and one sister, Florence Taylor of Franklin. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Donald Southard and nine siblings.

A funeral service will be held Friday, December 18, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Bryant‑Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Guy Duvall, Rev. Robert Dryman, Rev. Steve Reeves and Rev. Tommy Fouts officiating.  Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Marty Southard, Rob Bell, Jeff Southard, Charles Southard, Wayne Sanders, and Wade Waldroop.  The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 ‑ 8:00 at Bryant‑Grant Funeral Home.
