Franklin - Allene Roper Higdon, 96 of Franklin went to be with her Lord Friday March 23, 2012. She was a native and lifelong resident of Macon County, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Carrie Ann Tallent Roper. She was married to Howard Higdon who died in 1984. Mrs. Higdon was a homemaker and was the second oldest member of Oak Dale Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She loved her family and enjoyed quilting and gardening.

Surviving are three sons, Charles Higdon and wife Judy of Franklin, George Higdon and wife Linda of Sevierville, TN and Jimmie Higdon and wife Mary Nell of Franklin. two sisters, Ethel Ammons and Louise Williamson both of Franklin. 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild also survive. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruby Reeves, Lillie Bryant and Marie Dayton, two brothers, Roby and Harvey Roper.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday March 27th at the Oak Dale Baptist Church with the Rev. Guy Duvall and Rev. John Raby officiating. Burial will be in Roper Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve, Jerry, David, Bill, Paul and Bryan Higdon, Luke and Jordan Dixon, Anthony Maschke and Justin Kolodziejczak.

The family will recieve friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday evening at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Oak Dale Baptist Church building fund.
