Franklin, NC - Amanda Opal Hedden, age 90, of the Walnut Creek Community, passed away Friday, April 15, 2011 in Dahlonega, GA. She was a native of Macon County, the daughter of the late Frank and Minnie Clark Stiwinter. She was married to the late Elmer Hedden, who passed away in 1977. She was a homemaker and a member of Walnut Creek Baptist Church since 1953. She attended church regularly.

She is survived by three sons, Wiley Hedden of Franklin, NC, Marshall Hedden of Winston-Salem, NC and Larry Hedden of Dahlonega, GA; and one brother, Otis Stiwinter of West Virginia. Twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by two daughters and two sons; one sister and one brother.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 18, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Walnut Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Alton Dendy and Rev. Wesley Hooper officiating. Burial will be in Strain Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dwight Hedden, Keith Hedden, Brentley Hedden, Jonathan Hedden, David Hedden, Chris Hedden, Larry Hedden, Kenneth Hedden and Travis Hedden. Honorary pallbearers will be James and David Hedden. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 17, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Strain Cemetery Fund, c/o Sharon Hunt, 4386 Walnut Creek Rd., Franklin, NC 28734.
