FranklinLake County FL - Ann Carolyn O'Cain Bischoff died peacefully in Lake County, Florida November 3, 2014 at the age of 76. Ann was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Margurite Eltonhead Lockton and William F. O'Cain, II. She moved to Orlando, Florida in 1948 and lived in the Conway area. She was a member of the first four year term class at Edgewater High School 60 years ago and then attended Orlando Jr. College and Rollins College, majoring in Business Administration. During her working years Ann was a secretary in the construction industry (Addison Steel, Orlando, Florida), A Nursing Secretary and joined with her husband in Citrus Growing and Packing and in Commercial Property development and management.
Ann loved to travel in the USA, with trips out of country to Ireland, England and Europe. Ann and her husband, Ron, had property in Macon County, North Carolina (Otto) for 46 years and spent as much time as possible in the mountains of North Carolina and North Georgia. Ann was interested in Genealogy and Ancestry as an ancestor of early Carolinas and Tidewater, Virginia families. Her father's family, coming from the Orangeburg District (Jamison Saint Matthews) of South Carolina and her mother's family coming from the Tidewater Rappahannock River - Rose Guild Plantation area. Ann's Great Grandfather, Aquilla Watson O'Cain, was a Confederate Major, Lawyer and Judge and Ann's Great Grandmother, Julia Jenkins was with North Carolina ties. The O'Cains were settled in North Central Florida as early as the 1850's (Methodist Circuit Riders - Swanee, Columbia, Lake Sumter) and had ties to the Rast Family of South Carolina.
Ann made many lasting friends over her lifetime: Twins, Rose Vieth and Dora Meeks of Maryland; Imogene Nichols from high school, who now lives in Tennessee; John and Jan Knudsen and family of Longwood, FL; The John Bronson family of Kissimmee, FL; The Ponce family of St. Cloud, FL and Pat Wolfe of Orlando, FL.
Ann is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ronald K. Bischoff (residing between Howey In The Hills, FL and Otto, NC); Brother, William (Louise) O'Cain of Franklin, NC: Nephew, Daryll (Marcie) O'Cain with their son, Ryan of Raleigh, NC: Nephew, Steve (Carol) O'Cain with their sons, Sam and Daniel of Crawfordville, FL; Mother In Law, Julia Bischoff of LaPorte, CO; Sister In Law, Donna (George) Rehm of LaPorte, CO; Sister In Law, Joyce (Gregor) West of Cliffe, CO; Step Daughter, Andrea Apodaca of Arora, CO; Step Grandson, Jerome Apodaca of Arora, CO; her husband's Nephew, Scott (Emily) Gregor of Lake Park, GA; her husband's Niece, Annette (Mike) Singer of Pioneer, OH and neighbors and friends in Otto, Gene & Ingrid O'Neil and Margaret Shoen.
Ann attended Rabun Gap Presbyterian Church when in the area and felt close ties to its wonderful congregation and Pastor Don Barber.
A Funeral Service will be held Tueday, November 11, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Bryant Grant Funeral Home with Pastor Don Barber officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, in Franklin, NC. Pallbearers will be Scott Gregor, Steve O'Cain, Daryl O'Cain, RandyBronson, John Kundsen and Ray Reese. The family will receive friends from 10:30 till 11:00 am, thirty minutes prior to the service at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Rabun Gap Presbyterian Church, Post Office Box 333, Rabun Gap, GA 30568; The Salvation Army, Franklin, NC or The Salvation Army, Leesburg, FL.
