Ann Shepherd, 81, passed away Friday, May 6, 2016. Ms. Shepherd was born February 16, 1935 in Macon County to the late William Lawrence Shepherd and Hattie Rhinehart Shepherd. Ann worked many years in the textile industry; was very active in the Democratic Party; active in her high school class reunions; an original member of the Cowee Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary; and a member of Snow Hill United Methodist Church.
Survivors include many loving nieces and nephews.
Ann was preceded in death by three sisters, Frances Shepherd, Helen Gibson, and Nola Blanton; and one brother, Wallace Shepherd.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 9, 2016 at the Snow Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Miller and Rev. Charles Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in the Shepherd Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday evening at the Bryant-Grant Funeral Home and Crematory.
Pallbearers will be Travis Tallent, Bob Collins, Tony Collins, Billy “Jake” Collins, Jerry Shepherd, Jr. and Joe Shepherd. Honorary pallbearers will be her other nephews.
