Franklin, NC - Bernard Charles Dewey, age 88, of Franklin, NC passed away Thursday, October 25, 2012 at a local nursing home. He was born in Quebec, Canada the son of the late James Gilbert and Gertrude Elizabeth Taylor Dewey. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Alberta Dewey who passed away in 2010. He was a Veteran of the Canadian Army. He was a very active member of First United Methodist Church. He was a produce supervisor and owned his own store in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, he loved his church, gardening, and feeding birds.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda Abel and her husband, Don of Franklin, NC and his son, Patrick Dewey and his wife, Charlene of Okeechobee, FL; sister, Mary Chamberlain of Quebec, Canada, brother, Donald Dewey of Quebec, Canada; seven grandhildren also survive. He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Belanger and four brothers, James, Lawrence, Sidney and Henry Dewey.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, October 28th at 3:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. David Beam officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church.
