Bernice Elizabeth Ledford Mcdowell

Franklin - Bernice Elizabeth Ledford McDowell, 82, of Franklin, NC passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014. Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Spurgeon Theodore and Maybelle Burton Ledford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank McDowell, Jr.

Mrs. McDowell was a member of Union United Methodist Church, and was an avid reader and gardener.
She is survived by three daughters, Rhonda McDowell Stever of Indiana, PA, Tanya McDowell Kinsland of Lexington, SC and Teresa McDowell and fiancée Dan Gregg of Franklin; one sister, Inez Dills and husband Jerry of Winder, GA, and three grandchildren, Ben Kinsland, Sam Stever and Jessie Stever. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Ledford Arrowood and two brothers, Earl B. Ledford and Robert Ledford.

Memorial services will be held, Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Bryant Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Janet Greene officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2:00 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Tribute Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 1942.
