Bernice Dale (Smith) Henry

Bernice Dale Smith Henry, 99, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, July 2, 2016. Mrs. Henry was born September 3, 1916 in Macon County to the late John C. Smith and Lena Justice Smith. She was married for 53 years to the late Roy I. “Nick” Henry.  Bernice retired from the Macon County Public School after 26 years of service as manager of the cafeteria; and was also a member of the Tessentee Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Lucy Pickens of Franklin; seven grandchildren; one step-grandchild; 20 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; three sons, Don W. Henry, Ray E. Henry, and J.L. Henry; a granddaughter, Jana Brown; two sisters, Mildred Smith and Gladys Gibson; two  sisters, Lois and Lucy Smith; a son-in-law, Charles I. Pickens; two daughter –in-laws, Margaret J. Henry and Hazel Henry; and a step-granddaughter, Sharon Kimsey.

A funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2016 in the chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home with the Reverends Rick Potts, Jason Smith, and Lloyd Fish officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Wright Cemetery at Dryman’s Chapel.
