Betty Lucille Hopkins Potts, 73, of Greenville, SC formerly of Franklin passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Mattie Sorrells Hopkins and was married to Davis Potts for 54 years.
She was employed, for 28 years, by Lockheed Martin Aircraft in Greenville, SC. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Windy Gap Baptist Church. She loved working crossword puzzles, reading and flower gardening.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Potts is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Edwina Potts of Greenville; one son, Michael Potts of Greenville and one sister, Etta Tallent of Franklin. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Alice Wilson and six brothers, Ed, Jay, Ernest, Howard, Ralph and Avery Hopkins.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 12, 2015 at 2:30 pm in the chapel of Bryant‑Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Bishop officiating. Burial will be in John H. Potts Cemetery in Yellow Mountain. Pallbearers will be Dawson Curley, Robbie Potts, Smokey Buchanan, Christopher Waldroop, Stevie Tallent and Dawson Tallent. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 ‑ 2:15 pm, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
The family would like to express special thanks to McCall Hospice House for their compassionate care during Mrs. Potts illness. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to McCall Hospice House, 1836 W. Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680.
