Otto, NC - Bryant Martindale Gilbert, born October 8, 1929 and known as Gil to friends, died November 15, 2013. He was born and grew up on the family dairy farm in Arcadia, Utah. He graduated from Utah State with a BS Degree in agriculture. He then served two years in the Army in Korea. Upon returning from Korea, he went to work for Safeway Stores, Inc. in their Salt Lake City milk plant. He spent his career managing and building milk plants for Safeway. He retired to Macon Co., NC in 1991.

He is survived by his wife, Lois; a son, Kelly (LeNell) of Edmond, OK; a daughter, Melanie of Otto, NC, and one grandson, Cameron Vulcano; a brother, LeGrand of Arcadia, UT; a brother, Howard of Roosevelt, UT; a sister, Ruth Murphy of Bountiful, UT; a sister, Ellen Goodrich of Othello, WA and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 3:00 pm at The Barn, 271 Big Creek Road, Rabun Gap, GA. Franklin VFW Post #7339 and American Legion Post #108 will perform military rites.
