Buford Carl Smith

Franklin, NC - Buford Carl Smith, age 76, of Randy Drive Franklin, NC, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2009 in a local nursing home. He was a native of Orange County, FL, the son of the late Grady Buchanan Smith and Ella Jones Smith. He was a produce manager for Publix, and a cabinet maker. He enjoyed airboats, fishing, deer hunting, and camping.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Martha Marie Borst Smith; a son, Buford Carl Smith, Jr. of Otto, NC; a sister, Louise Richter of Summersville, SC; three grandchildren, Tommy Smith, Timmy Smith, and Kimberly Smith; five great-grandchildren, Dustin, Zachary, Silvahna, Nevada and Cooper. He was preceded in death by a son, Randy Coley Smith, who passed away in 1981, and three brothers, Winfred Smith, Morell Smith and John Smith.

Memorial services will be held Friday, January 23rd at 5:00pm in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home, with Johnny Webb and Rev. John Raby officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 5:00pm, one hour prior to the service Friday, at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Memorial Processing Center, PO Box 5216, Glenn Allen, VA 23058-5216.
