Burdell Holbrook Coir

Franklin, NC - Burdell Holbrook Coir, age 100, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2012. Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late William and Catherine Shepherd Holbrook. She was married to Herman George Coir, who died in 1971. She was a homemaker and a member of Iotla Baptist Church. Burdell was a Rosie Riveter during World War II, and loved gardening and yard work.

She is survived by one daughter, Ruthie Gibson and husband Andy of Franklin, NC; two sisters-in-law, Grace Beardslee of Palm Bay, FL and Alma Coir of Briny Breezes, FL; two grandsons, Joey Gibson (Becky) and Jon Gibson (Nina Woodard); one great-grandson, Jonathan Gibson, Jr. and two special caregivers, Linda and Ruby. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Graveside services will be held, Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Shepherd Cemetery with Rev. Charles Stevens officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shepherd Cemetery Fund, c/o Josephine Jennings, PO Box 781, Franklin, NC 28744.
