C. T. Burnette

Cullowhee, NC - C. T. Burnette, age 82, of Yellow Mountain and The Brian Center in Brevard, NC passed away Saturday, August 9th. He was born December 1, 1931 in Oak Grove, Macon County to Wade and Estelle Houston Burnette.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Juanita. He is survived by his son, Tom Burnette and wife Nancy of Glenville, NC; grandson, Jeff Burnette and wife Sarah of Grovetown, GA; granddaughter, Kristy Burnette of Wilmington, NC and five great grandchildren, Jeffery Thomas, Bradley, Christopher, William and Elizabeth; two brothers, James Burnette of Hendersonville, NC, Hal Burnette of Cashiers, NC; a sister, Judy Rogers of Franklin, NC and several nieces and nephews.

C. T. was a master builder. He started his building career in Washington, DC and then moved to St. Petersburg, FL where his family lived for 19 years. He then worked in the Highlands Cashiers area until he retired in 1994. He loved being outside, gardening, playing various musical instruments and tinkering around in his shop. He was a member of Yellow Mtn. Baptist Church. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends, but will remain in our precious memories.

C. T.'s memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 13th at Yellow Mtn. Baptist Church at 2:00 pm. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Stewart Cemetery.
