Carl Augustine Ceneskie

Carl A. Ceneskie, born August 4, 1924 to Mary (Delozier) and Stanley Ceneskie in Coalport, PA.,  passed away January 1, 2017 at the age of 92.  He was preceded in death by his parents;  his beloved wife , Ardella B. (Simonson) Ceneskie, originally of Viroqua, Wisconsin; his brothers, Joseph of Westerville, Ohio and Stanley of Columbus, Ohio; and his sister, Grace who lived in Florida prior to her death.

This fisherman, guitar and harmonica player, gardener, dog lover, WWII veteran and dedicated husband and father will be greatly missed by his children, Bruce and Brenda Ceneskie of Canal Winchester, Ohio; Marsha (Ceneskie) and Randal Parrott of Willis, Texas; and Deborah (Ceneskie) and David Fazio of Dillard, Georgia; along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Carl had a full and adventurous life.  He met his wife (a/k/a “my blue-eyed blond” and Dee) at a USO dance in Madison, Wisconsin.  They married in 1947 after Carl’s discharge from the US Army Air Corps.  Carl started married life as a candy salesman in Columbus, Ohio.  The couple raised their children in the Lutheran Church and were a good example of God’s love here on earth.

In 1955 Carl joined the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) which later became the current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Carl and his family had the privilege of living in Frankfurt, Germany and traveling to many countries.  Following his tour in Germany, the family returned to Gahanna, Ohio, and Carl continued working with the FAA at Port Columbus. After transfers to Georgia, Oklahoma, Washington DC, and then back to Oklahoma, Carl retired in 1985 after 30 years of service. He received accolades for his job performance and for aiding in the development of the FAA’s first microwave landing system.

Free to live where they wanted, the couple moved to Logan, Ohio to build their “dream” home on land they had purchased years prior.  They were able to take care of their land and home until health issues forced them to move to Lawrenceville, Georgia in 2002 to be close to family.  Carl’s beloved wife of 65 years passed away in March, 2013.

Suffering with dementia and failing health, Carl moved to Macon Valley Nursing and Rehab Center, Franklin, NC in July, 2016 and enjoyed his new location in the mountains and visits from his family until his passing.  He left this world and entered his eternal home while retaining his wit and humor.

We wish to thank all family and friends for many years of love and attention given our father. Thank you for your concern at his passing.  Though our hearts are heavy, we pray you can rejoice with us at his homecoming and our hope of being reunited with mom and dad one day.

Due to relatives far and wide and upon request, we are posting this obituary. A memorial service will be planned and held in Ohio at a later date.

Much love and appreciation,

Bruce, Marsha and Debbie
