Carole Oxford was born on September 23, 1942, in Cuthbert, Georgia to Myrtle Greene and Curtis Dixon Oxford. She graduated from Terrell County High School and attended Stephens College.
She is survived by her sister, Kay Oxford Singletary, two daughters, Ivy Ullery Stubbs and Eve Jones (Phil), four grandchildren, Kevin Stubbs, Caroline Stubbs Hitchcock (Alex), Jacob Dugger and Benjamin Dugger, great grandson, Henry Hitchcock, nephew Dick Lawson, and her precious canine companion, Little Bit.
For 26 years, she enjoyed an impressive career in residential construction/development and real estate in Dunwoody, Georgia. In 2003, after this great success, she relocated to Highlands, NC, where she and her family had spent many wonderful seasons. As a part of this new journey, she took a risk and founded Oxford Properties (real estate brokerage) and enjoyed 18 years of acclaimed success. From the moment of her arrival in Highlands, she felt a deep connection with the people and community. Her genuine interest and care of her neighbors was evident with her service in and around the area. She wasn’t a famous athlete, politician, or musician, but she was extraordinary, and the community and world has lost a truly incredible woman. She was active in the Highlands Child Development Center (Board Member), the Highlands-Cashiers Hospital (Board Member), Rotary Club of Highlands as a member and devoted time to fundraising activities and supported The Town of Highlands Scholarship Fund and The Cashiers Highlands Humane Society.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday November 24, 2024, 3PM at First Baptist Church-Highlands, officiated by Pastor Donnie Seagle.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be directed to the Town of Highlands Scholarship Fund and The Cashiers Highlands Humane Society.
