Carolyn Louise (Dendy) Carpenter

Carolyn Louise Dendy Carpenter of Highlands passed away April 12, 2024. She was born January 16, 1950, in Macon County to the late Rev. Earl Dendy and Gladys McCall Dendy.

Carolyn worked as a secretary in a dental office.  Carolyn loved her church, singing gospel music with the Dendy Sisters and the Dendy family.  She also loved her piano and started singing at a young age.  Her music was her ministry to God.  Her other love was for all animals.  She also loved flowers of all kinds. Carolyn was a member of Goldmine Baptist Church and a devoted servant of the Lord.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 30 years, John (Tommy) Carpenter; stepdaughters, Carey Spurgeon (Chris) of Hoschton, Ga. and Tiffani Davis(Jimmy Lee) of Camarillo, Ca.; one stepson, Casey Carpenter of Highlands, NC; one sister, Dale Roper of Franklin, NC, and two brothers, Jack Dendy (Carolyn) of Hayesville, NC, and Mack Dendy of Hayesville, NC, she is also survived by ten grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Olan Dendy and one sister, Gale Dendy Alford.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday April 16, 2024, at Goldmine Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary McDaniel and Rev. Gene Hawkins officiating.  Burial will follow at Mount Moriah Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Monday April 15, 2024, at Bryant Grant Funeral Home, Franklin, NC, Pallbearers will be Chris Spurgeon, Larry Dendy, Ben Cotton, Timothy Crabtree, John McCall, Richie Jones, Gunnar Williams and James Burrell.

The family request in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made to the Mount Moriah Cemetery, 242 Dendy Orchard Road, Highlands, NC 28741 or to the Appalachian Animal Rescue, 851 Lake Emory Road, Franklin, NC 28734.
