Carrie Bell Chastain

Otto, NC - Carrie Bell Chastain, age 85, of Hannah Mtn. Rd., Otto, NC passed away Thursday, December 23, 2010 at her residence. A native of Macon County, NC she was the daughter of the late Harley Nelson Thomas and Fannie Maine Bradley Thomas. She was married to Leonard "Whiz" Chastain who died in 2004. Carrie was a homemaker; she loved to quilt and cook for family and friends and loved to garden. She was a member of Mulberry United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two daughters Carolyn Jump and husband James of Piedmont, SC and Kathi Herolaga and husband Larry of Burlington, KY; two sons Phillip Chastain and Vic Chastain and wife Rebecca all of Otto, NC; one sister Nancy Wilson of Pisgah Forest, NC and one brother Hoyt Allen Thomas of Otto, NC. Six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held, Sunday, December 26, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Mulberry United Methodist Church with Rev. Duane Corle officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Allen Thomas, Scott Jump, Darien Chastain, Kevin Jump, Pat McCall and Steven McClure. The family will receive friends Sunday, from 1:00 - 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at the church; other times at 245 Hannah Mtn. Rd., Otto, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mulberry United Methodist Church, 1195 Brown Rd., Otto, NC 28763.
