Charles "Chuck" K. Hammock, Jr. died at the age of 81 in Highlands, NC on August 7, 2021.

He was born in Glennville, GA on November 1, 1939, and lived most of his adult life in Atlanta, GA before retiring to Highlands, NC. Chuck graduated from Georgia Tech as a civil engineer, and he worked for the Georgia Department of Transportation for over 34 years.

Chuck had a great love for catering. He began catering while living in Atlanta and continued in Highlands throughout much of his retirement. Chuck's love for catering provided many opportunities for him to entertain and serve his friends, church, and local community.

Chuck was preceded in death by his partner Steve Ackerman. He is survived by his sister, Geraldine Brewton of Beaufort, SC; sister-in-law, Betty Hammock of Goose Creek, SC; and many nieces, nephews, and their children.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 1:00 pm Episcopal Church of the Incarnation in Highlands, NC with Reverend W. Bentley Manning officiating. Visitation with the family will begin at 12:30 at the church. Burial will follow the service at Highlands Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Cashiers Highlands Humane Society, 200 Gable Drive, Sapphire, NC 28774, in honor of Chuck Hammock.
