Charles Eugene Moffitt

Mr.  Charles Eugene “Gene” Moffitt, 82, formerly of Franklin, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness Saturday, June 27, 2024.

He was born Feb. 21, 1942, the son of the late, Ernest and Eunice Stockton Moffitt. After he was discharged from the US Army he joined the Newport News, Virginia Police Department, where he retired after 30 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Early formerly of Franklin; brother, Grady Moffitt; and sister, Sue Moffitt Calhoun.

He is survived by his daughters, Tina Moffitt of Hayes, Virginia, Kim Moffitt Anthony of Yorktown, Virginia; sister, Judy Moffitt Hinton of Franklin; and brother, Tim (Donna) Moffitt of Greensboro..

A private graveside service with Police Honor Guard will be held in Hayes, Virginia.
