Charles William Moore

Charles William Moore of Franklin, NC died on Saturday, September 07, 2024.  Mr. Moore was born on June 19, 1932, in Franklin to his late parents, Fred and Leona Waldroop Moore.

He was predeceased in death by his sisters, Margaret Moore Scott and Helen Moore Boyle, as well as his two sons-in-law, James (Jim) McDowell and Thomas Elliott.  He is survived by his brother, Daniel Moore of Tampa, FL.

Mr. Moore was raised in Franklin and graduated from Franklin High School with the class of 1950.  After graduation, Mr. Moore joined the United States Navy where he proudly served for 20 years.  He found a love for flying and traveling the world while honorably serving his country.  He was a proud Veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War.  He attained the rank of First Class Petty Officer.  After retirement, Mr. Moore was an owner/operator in the trucking industry.

Mr. Moore is survived by his wife of 69 years, Rosemary Grace Moore of Fayetteville, GA, his sons, Steve Moore (Donna) of Loudon, TN; Andrew Moore of Franklin; Robert Moore (Candie) of Rabun Gap, GA; Gerald Moore (Susan) of Cumming, GA; and daughters Maureen Moore Elliott of Fayetteville, GA and Marian Moore McDowell of Pooler, GA.  Mr. Moore is survived by his 16 grandchildren, Kate Moore Meyer, Charlotte Moore Walker, Daniel Moore, Matthew Moore, Andrea Moore, Matthew Garner, Brett Moore, John Lyle Moore, Parker Moore, Jonathan Moore, Jennifer Moore, Bradley Lloyd, Alyssa Lloyd Thomas, Jessica Lloyd Shelton, Tyler McDowell, and Sloane McDowell Weaver, as well as 20 great-grandchildren and 7 nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the Carson Cemetery with Rev. Rick Potts officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service at the cemetery.
