Charles Melvin Sabin, 91, of Franklin, NC, passed away June 8, 2025. He was born July 11, 1933, in New York City to the late Martin Sabin and Sarah Gonzier Sabin.
Mr. Sabin is survived by his wife Evanie of 45 happy years of marriage; his daughters, Mindy (Janson) and Claire (Lane); sister, Lilian (Zucker) and many nieces and nephews.
Known as Charlie to some and Mel to others, Charles was a tool and die maker who took tremendous pride in his ability to solve problems and fabricate products of his own design. A man of strength, conviction, character, great intelligence who chose his words with care.
As a young man in New York City, he loved driving his convertible sports car with the top down even in the winter. An adventurous eater mixing up what others might think of as crazy concoctions always in an effort to not have any food go to waste.
After New York City, Charlie moved to Winter Haven, FL with Evanie working until his late 70's and climbing ladders into his mid 80's. A man with a sharp mind that could fix anything from cars to roofs. He enjoyed hiking, photography and was a lifelong learner.
Charlie, his wife Evanie and daughter Claire retired to Franklin, NC where he passed peacefully at home surrounded by family.
