Clayton Clifton Williams

Webster, NC- Clayton Clifton Williams, age 90, of Rocking Chair Lane, Webster, NC passed away Monday, June 27, 2011 at a Sylva Nursing Center. He was born in Polk County, FL, the son of the late Walter Allen Williams and Lillie Belle Campbell Williams. He was married to Selma Brown Williams who preceded him in death. He owned and operated Clayton & Helen Shoe Store. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Webster and was a former member of the American Legion. He was a US WWII Veteran of the Coast Guard where he served as Chief Petty Officer.

He is survived by a son, Robert C. Williams of Clyde, NC; two granddaughters, Courtenay Rae Williams and Ashley Dale Williams. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd Eugene Williams and Marion Jackson Williams.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Franklin VFW Post #7339 and American Legion Post #108 will conduct military graveside rites. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 till 11:00 am, one hour prior to the service, at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home.
