Franklin, NC -Cliff Michael Owen, 62, of Franklin passed away Monday, February 3, 2014 in Charles George VA Medical Center. Born in Hendersonville, NC he was the son of Mildred Tabor Owen of Brevard, NC and the late Alfred Joseph Owen. He was a Sergeant in the US Army serving during Vietnam. He was a member of Watauga Baptist Church. He was an avid knife collector and loved camping and hunting.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Kathy Sever Owen; two step sons, Andrew and Christopher Green both of Franklin; four aunts, Verna Cofer and her husband Jackie and their daughter Debbie Devore, Betty Massingale, Joan Ann Tabor and Clare Waller; one uncle, Don Tabor and his wife Millie. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Arthur and an uncle, Jack Tabor.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Bryant Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Wesley Price and Rev. Roy Lowe officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in Strain Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Watauga Baptist Church, PO Box 2022, Franklin, NC 28744.
