David Warren Evitt

Mr. David Warren Evitt, 67, of Cullowhee, NC, passed away Monday, August 31, 2026. He was born June 17, 1959, in Gaston Co., NC, to Zettie Coggins Evitt and the late Warren Evitt.

Daivd worked as an arborist, or tree surgeon. He grew up in the Yellow Mountain Community and attended Yellow Mountain Baptist Church. Very much in love with his wife, he also adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his family meant everything to him. David loved where he lived in Yellow Mountain and enjoyed being outside. He liked to joke around and was the kind of man to have never met a stranger.

David is survived by his wife of 24 years, Cheryl Evitt; his mother, Zettie C. Evitt; his sisters, Stephanie McMahan (Randy) and Karen Macko; his children, Sabine Evitt, Adam Evitt, Chasity Dill (Josh), and Heather Hovie (John); 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, David is preceded in death by his brother, Lindon Evitt, and his daughter, Emma Evitt.
