Rev. David Maney

Franklin, NC - Rev. David Marshall Maney, age 85, of Franklin, NC went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, January 3, 2013. He was born March 4, 1927 in Clay County, NC to the late Samuel Maney and Martha Bradshaw Maney. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Peek; a brother, Doyle Maney and a sister, Lottie Spivey.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a Church of God minister for 57 years, pastoring churches in the states of Washington and North Carolina. He liked trout fishing and gardening and he loved being with his family. He was a member and former pastor of the Franklin Church of God.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Villa Mae Dills Maney; a son, Steve Maney and his wife Nancy; a daughter, JoAnn Case and her husband, Jim; five grandchildren, Christopher Peek, Jeremy Maney, Amanda Maney Downs, Jamey Case, Janell Case; five great grandchildren, Sydney, Madison, Maggie, Callie and Nicholas; three brothers, Ruel Maney, Robert Maney, Delmer Maney and one sister, Opal Mashburn.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 6 at 3:00PM at the Franklin Church of God with Pastor Thurman Jenkins, Pastor Phillip Cochran and Rev. Don Moffitt officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Peek, Jeremy Maney, Jamey Case, Howell Downs, Kevin Watson and Randy Gibbs. Honorary pallbearers will be Cecil Brooks, Claude Waldroop, David Hastings, Rev. Hank Connor, Charles Hartley and Dexter Vinson.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 6 from 1:00 3:00 PM, two hours prior to the service at the Franklin Church of God.
