Dennis Earl Thompson, known to everyone simply as Earl, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025. He was born on May 6, 1953, in East Canton, Ohio, to Wendell and Eloise Thompson. When he was four years old, his family moved to Bradenton, Florida, where he grew up and spent most of his life surrounded by family and friends.
Earl married the love of his life, Connie, and together they shared 50 wonderful years of marriage. They made their home in Franklin, North Carolina, after Earl retired.
He was a devoted husband and a proud father to two daughters, Mary (Jeff) of Ocala, Florida, and Aris of Bradenton, Florida. Earl was the youngest of four brothers: GT (Deb), Dale (Doris Jean), and Ted (Teresa). He was “Uncle Earl” to many, not only to his nieces and nephews, but also to countless others who loved him as one of their own.
Earl was a friend to everyone and loved by many. His kindness, humor, and generous spirit touched all who knew him. He never met a stranger and had a special gift for making everyone feel welcome, and always tried to get them to laugh.
Earl will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his love, humor, and the many memories he created will live on.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 3:00 PM at The Center of Anna Maria Island, located at 407 Magnolia Ave, Anna Maria, FL 34216. All who knew and loved Earl are welcome to attend and share in honoring his memory.
